This may have escaped the attention of many at the time, but in 2010 this remix of Roisin's (yet to be released) song Demon Lover was put online by YILA. It features the London rapper Wiley.

Pensiero Stupendo teaser

Roisin has posted a teaser of Pensiero Stupendo, one of the songs from her Italian music project Mi Senti. She produced the project, which will be out in May, with her partner Brigante.

Roisin's musical plans

Roisin has spoken about her future musical plans in a interview with Rory Hall:

"I have been incredibly productive of late actually. I've got a finished project which is called (...) Mi Senti, an Italian language project, where I sing in Italian. That will come out in May. And I'm working on an album, a Roisin Murphy album, which is going really well. I've got a single coming out on Eskimo records soon called Leviathan, which is a collaboration with Freeform Five. I'm doing another house music EP. I've been lazy for a long time, I've had two children, but it's all starting to converge at one time, it's like buses."

The meaning of Leviathan

"Leviathan is mentioned in Daniel Robinson's ‘Great Ideas of Philosophy,’ an audio recording of several lectures. In that context, I took the word to mean the overarching system of ideas, morals, rules of governance and the constraints and freedoms of any society at any giving time in history. The vast machine that is built with the sole intention of keeping us from anarchy and to halt the break down of said societies' version of humanity."

Roisin explaining the meaning of Leviathan to Billboard. You can read the full interview here.

It's been a long wait but at last we can listen to Leviathan, Roisin's collaboration with Freeform Five.

The song - plus a bunch of remixes - will be released this Monday.

Flash Of Light - Original version

We have heard the Solomun remix and now it's time to listen to the original version of Flash Of Light, Roisin's collaboration with Luca C & Brigante.

The song's lyrical landscape is the last day of the world, as explained by Roisin herself. Perhaps that explains its rather melancholy undertone.

Click here to listen. The song kicks in at 17 min. 10 sec. into the stream.

Non Credere

Click here to listen to a teaser of Roisin singing Non Credere, from her upcoming Italian
EP with Luca C & Brigante.

The end of the world...

House music all night long.

When a friend of mine introduced me to the music of Luca C & Brigante I was stuck with an apocaliptic feeling, as if I were listening to the sound of a party at the end of the world. And with such strong imagery coming to mind I was only too happy to write with them when they asked. Flash of Light is about that last night on earth, a forewarning of the end of an era and a last chance to Love.

Roisin announces new releases

Roisin took to Facebook today to announced the released of Simulation and her collaboration with Luca C & Brigante. Some exciting times ahead!

Unofficial Simulation video

Check out this amazing, and rather sultry, video for Roisin's song Simulation.

The video was made by drag persona Ambrosia Salad to conclude a year long art project. Roisin is a great muse and inspiration for Ambrosia: I can't tell you how much of a muse Roisin is to me! She changed my life and the way i look at fashion, music, and art.

Simulation remix & release

Listen to Dixon's set at We Love Space Ibiza to hear the Mano le Touch Remix of Simulation. The song kicks in at 3 min 30 sec.

Rumour has it that Simulation will released later this month on the Permanent Vacation label.

*UPDATE: The release news is not just a rumour, it's true. A 12" vinyl will be released on 17 August. Read more information here and preview another remix of the song. (Thanks to J.)

Roisin Murphy + Luca C & Brigante

Check out the Solomun Remix of Flash Of Light, Roisin's collaboration with Luca C & Brigante. This remix is quite amazing and I cannot wait to hear the original version of the song!

What do you know think of this long awaited new piece of Murphy music?

Roisin pregnant again?

Though nothing has been officially confirmed, this picture of Roisin taken earlier this week suggests that she is pregnant with her second child!

Roisin is working on a Italian EP

Roisin is working on an Italian EP with producer Brigante.

Here is what he told Resident Advisor:

I am working on a very special Italian EP with Roisin Murphy. Having worked with her on a song for the album I discovered she is a bit of an Italian-ist too—certainly capable of the drama associated with divas such as Mina or Patty Pravo! We have started with a cover version of a song that my uncle wrote for Mina in 1969. She is singing in Italian!

Roisin previously worked with Brigante on the song Crea Ni Forna, featured in the Christophe Coppens S/S 2012 ad. She will also feature on the upcoming Luca C & Brigante album.

Golden Era - Roisin & David Morales

David Morales has premièred his collaboration with Roisin on his radio show! The song is titled Golden Era.

Check it out for yourself on David Morales' website. The track starts at 16m20s into the show.

New music: SIMULATION!

Roisin talked about this song a few weeks ago, but I didn't expect it to surface quite so soon. But here we have it: Simulation, a collaboration with a mystery producer from northern England.

9 minutes of deep house bliss. Enjoy!

You Know Me Better - live 2011

Watch this video to see Roisin perform an amazing remix of You Know Me Better at the Electronic Beats festival in Zagreb last month (starts at 09:10).

Electonic Beats interview

A short yet informative interview with Roisin at the Electronic Beats festival in Zagreb the other day. She speaks of a few new collaborations that will be released some time in the future.

How does it feel as an independent artist these days?

Fine, good. I haven't been doing very much music recently, but I'll get back into it.

Any plans to return to EMI or not?
I don't know, what we'll release next.

After 'Orally Fixated', 'Demon Lover' and 'Momma's Place', there haven't been any new releases, you've been pregnant with your daughter. How did this huge personal step influence you as an artist?
Well, I took a lot of time off; and quite often I think, I was ready and then realised I wasn't. I didn't quite have the identity to go for with the whole album. I didn't have in mind the kind of an artist, that I want to be … after baby … after 6 albums. And this is still forming for me, to be honest.

Did you work on any new songs since then?
Yes, I've worked on few bits & pieces. I have recorded a track with David Morales, and that will be on his record, I've done a big, sexy song called Simulation with some people, and it will be performed tonight.

Your latest new work comes in form of a duet: Tony Christie's '7 Hills' …
Friends of mine from Sheffield were working on an album and asked me to write a track and it turned into a duet.

There were quite a lot of collaborations for you lately. Why did you choose to focus on collaborations?
It's really hard to answer why I do those things, but basically things just come into my life. People chose me already and I've just reacted. It's more a reaction then a proaction recently, so if somebody ask me to do something I like, Ill do it. And usually that's how everything works in my life. I allow it to kinda happen to me. And that's how my career has always been - I'm waiting for things to happen.

When will your next solo release come out and what can we expect from it?
I don't know and I don't know.

You previewed your song 'Demon Lover' for the first time during the Viktor & Rolf 2009 Paris Fashion Week show. How did this came together?
They just asked me to collaborate musically and I did something almost like now, DJ and sang. Simple as that.

Any plans of repeating this kind of event?
There are always things going on with connection to fashion for me. I love it, so you never know.
