A nice shot of Roisin and
Kanye West at the
Preen fashion show in New York earlier this week.
Murphy and West did not only meet at the Preen show. Last night they both attended the
Kai Kuhne after party, where Roisin also performed...
Can we perhaps expect a collaboration between the two musical masterminds?

I love both their albums. They should work together & Simon Henwood can do an icy video. Roisin should rap also!!
My god, Roisin rappin'... it sounds like a nightmare!
word...
...she sounds great doing the rap from the truth... hmphp!
A collaboration? Please... NO!
I really don't like the thought of Rozza going down the Rap road, even temporarily. Admittedly many of her earliest vocals could count as "rap" but with the big guys like Kanye? No thanks. Be thankful I'm not going into my anti-Rap spiel here!
"The Truth" was a one shot...Fortunately
Musically, on a scale from 1 to 10, I personally put rap on position 1.
Roisin Murphy is on position 11.
Look what happened to Nelly Furtado after her collaboration with Timbaland: an artistic disaster. I don't want the same thing happen to Roisin
Michel
Agree with you 100% Michel.
I do not and never will classify Rap as "music". Rozza's voice has improved so much with age it's extraordinary and she should progress using that voice to stunning MUSICAL effect.
God I hope not. Kanye is an idiot.
RM is a great rapper FACT. Duo no Kanye is not good enought to lick RMs boots
PLEASE RóISíN, DONT GO WEST!!!!
Her rappin' on "The Truth" was good, but originally (on the Album Track) it was the part from J-Live.
kayne needs to go home.
ive heard so many conceited stories about him during this last week in nyc.
its disgusting how highly he thinks of himself.
x
No way!!!!
Dude Roisin is my favorite artist but I would seriously be offended if she did a collaboration with Kanye West. That would make me very sad/angry. I hate rap and hip-hop with a fiery passion. That is a horrible nightmare to imagine! Roisin is wayyyyy too talented to do hip-hop.
And in regard to The Truth, that is pure genius and I would not classify that as either rap or hip-hop - that's electronic music with a little rap thrown in it - plus J-Live's version doesn't have half the passion Roisin's live interpretations do. He sounds too casual, she actually sounds pissed off.
Apparently, you have all forgotten Tight Sweater from her first Moloko album with Mark Brydon.
That was RoRap long before the Truth.
I have nothing against him but ... no. :(
On the contrary Violatrix, if you read my first post here, you'll see I acknowledged that Roisin's earliest vocals could qualify as "rap"... much of the Tight Sweater album is kind of half recited half sung. But that was back when she had yet to really find her voice and with each album her voice has blossomed into something truly special. To go back to the rap style would be a huge step backwards... she might as well just reform Moloko!
I HOPE NOT!
Kanye is so into himself..it's utterly irritating.
Oh come on folks, don't act so stupid! They have a lot in common. I think KanYe West's last music, artwork and videos are pure art. So are Róisín's. And don't forget that they both have a good taste for fashion!
I can't see Róisín doing any hip hop songs so if they would ever work together, they will probably make some unique - and most likely quite good - dance tracks.
Roisin, please, don't do that!
A collaboration with this stupid idiot, after pure genius like Mark Brydon, Mathew Herbert and Andy Cato would be a big mistake.
By the way, what about the songs recorded with Groove Armada?
Michel
...And I forgot to say: I don't give a shit about Kayne West's taste for fashion. We are talking about music here.
Michel
Noooo, go away you ugly stupid twat. Leave Roisin alone!!!!
What exactly makes rap "not music"? That sounds pretty ignorant..
Thank you for the article, very useful piece of writing.
